Sock Tubes

AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE

Want to make socks without having to knit the whole sock yourself?

Make your socks from a plain knitted tube by simply adding cuff, heel and toe segments yourself. These kinds of socks are referred to as “After-Thought/Shaker Socks”.

I offer to use your personal light to fingering weight sock yarn (up to 115grams) to create a “sock tube” of either 54 or 72 stitches in diameter. Each yarn received  will be knitted into a tube at approximately 8-9 stitches per inch (gauge can change depending on fibre  properties) and will be returned to you as one tube of each yarn with scrap yarn before and after your provided sock yarn.

If your yarn requires to be wound onto a cake/cone (from a skein or hank of yarn) please note an additional cost of $4 per skein. (You can save this fee by sending your fiber already wound).

Why choose a 54 stitch cylinder over a 72? The 72 needle cylinder, with its more stitches, creates a slightly larger tube diameter.  Unsure? Go with the 54 stitch for now.

Want to use your same yarn to later knit your cuffs, heels & toes?

A general tip (depending on how tight you knit etc) consider keeping at least 20 grams aside.

Please email us for free local curbside (Vancouver, BC) drop off and pickup instructions.

Not local? Please email us for shipping instructions. Once your yarn has been received we will contact you with an estimate of when they will be ready and will send you an invoice for return shipping.

For clarity, you send your skein/hank of fingering/sock weight yarn (or wound yarn to avoid the extra fee). I send you a PayPal invoice once it’s done covering the service requested and shipping back to you.

Don’t want to send me your light to fingering weight sock yarn to make into tubes but instead buy some already knitted sock tubes?

Buy A “Make it yours” Universal Bonnet

Introducing my ‘pre-made’ Universal Bonnets which will arrive ready to be dyed by you easily in the comfort of your own home.

Available in the regular single end CAD$32 or dual ended CAD$42 versions. These costs include not-tracked regular shipping.

Why not TYE-DYE it? Use dye to paint brush an intricate design? Use your imagination!

The yarn used is Supergarne Aktiv white (undyed) yarn. 75% wool superwash / 25% nylon. Öko-Tex verified. Made in Italy.

This yarn feels and looks at its best after the first wash (which I will leave to you to do). Be sure to gently prewash this prior to dyeing to remove any supplier oil in the fiber. Simply some soap and water. Then when ready, dye without using the microwave to set*.

How to dye customize this at home? Using
Food Coloring or Kool-Aid Packets (no sugar added)

*Note: due to the metal split rings on the bonnet please do not use a MICROWAVE to heat set your yarn during the dyeing process - instead use the steaming method reviewed in the food coloring link.
