MINI MASTS (Color Work Tool)
A mini-mast is an item which holds one or more different cones of yarn and is mounted on the ribber hole of the cam shell. By being located on the rotating cam shell it reduces yarn tangle while also offering an easy way to remove a yarn and manually untangle as needed. This tool works better with a slotted yarn carrier (a threaded carrier that does not need yarn to be cut to be removed). Colorwork is not a fast procedure but with skill and attention - adds wow to whatever you are working.
This lime green metal mini-mast for my Legare 400 was made by me for my own use. For more images of this cool item (and others see MY IDEAS AND UPGRADES page and/or my blog entry.
MORE INFO: Although this link - Hand Knitting Fair Isle/Stranded Knitting link - shows information using non-machine knitting - the concept is the same in regards to the technique of colorwork.
