Knitting frames: late 1500s | Flat or V bed knitting machines: early 1800s

CSM PARTS AND THEIR NAMES…
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
There are MANY different circular sock machines in the world and even though generically they have the same parts to work similar functions, the naming of their parts can differ greatly.
For example.
The Harrison Sun CSM names the “Ribber Tappet” also the “Ribber Cam Plate” or “Welting Cam Plate”. Ref Page 8
Selvage is also referred to as the Welt - The welt is very important because it is the starting point of the sock and provides an edge that will not ravel. It is important to fit, and it may be seen, depending on the sock design.
This page is a work in progress.
Feel other suppliers should be listed? Please email me with their complete with a brief summary of items and info for website submission consideration.
